Aifat Timur Maybrat, Kompas86.id – One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Raider Infantry Battalion 501/Bajra Yudha Kostrad, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in the Maybrat Regency, Papua Barat Daya Province. On Tuesday, 7 January 2025, residents of Aisa Village, Aifat Timur District, partnered with the 501 Task Forces to carry out a fogging initiative to control mosquito populations and prevent dengue fever.
The collaborative effort began through social communication between TNI and community leaders in Aisa. Commander of the 501 Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Yakhya Wisnu Arianto, had emphasized the importance of addressing community needs alongside security operations. Following discussions led by First Lieutenant Infantry Puji Handoko of Kamat Post, the fogging initiative was scheduled and prepared in coordination with the local community.
Residents and TNI soldiers actively participated in the fogging operation on the designated day, covering all village areas, including residential yards and shared spaces. The enthusiasm of all participants was evident as they worked together for the betterment of their environment. After the operation, Mr. Lukas Waymbewer, a respected community leader, expressed gratitude, stating, “Thank you, Commander, for helping us achieve a mosquito-free environment. God bless you.”
“The cooperation between the 501 Task Forces and the residents of Aisa Village demonstrated TNI’s inclusive social communication approach, aligning with efforts to accelerate development and improve health in Papua,” said Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, Commander of HABEMA, in his remarks following the activity report.
